You won't be short of places to eat on your family day out at Chester Zoo. There's The Ark Restaurant, which is located in the middle of the zoo next to the Tigers. Overlooking the Fun Park play area, this is the perfect place for you to take the kids. You can choose from a wide range of food options from sandwiches and snacks to plated meals.

If you're looking for something a little more stately, try the Oakfield House Tea Room and Restaurant. Situated by the Lions, the tea rooms offer a range of hot and cold snacks and meals. Overlooking the zoo's beautiful gardens, this is the perfect place for parents looking for some peace and quiet!

Cafe Tsavo is integrated into the African Tsavo, which includes the Black Rhino Experience and a thatched roof. Enjoy a meal or a snack under the watchful eye of of rhinos, mongooses and warthog - it's a dining experience like no other!

If the lions have have given you a fright or the you've been terrified in the Twilight Zone, you can pop along to The Acorn Bar to steady your nerves with a drink. The bar also serves a range of light lunches.

In addition to all these options, there are a range of ice-cream kiosks located across the Chester Zoo, selling a variety of ice-cream, sweets and snacks. If you've brought your own picnic, but the weather's not up scratch, take advantage of the Arara Picnic Lodge. The lodge is located next to the jaguars and provides indoor cover for picnics.

Shops at Chester Zoo

The Ark Shop can be found at the main entrance and sells a wide range of gifts and souvenirs to remember your day out at Chester Zoo by. It also sells useful items such as ponchos and umbrellas, in case you get caught in a shower.

The Fountain Shop is located in the centre of the zoo and sells a range of gifts. Chester Zoo's professional face-painting service is also available here during school holidays and weekends - the kids will love it!

Open during peak periods only, the Arara Shop sells a smaller range of goods and is located near the Spirit of the Jaguar enclosure.

All the shops at the Chester Zoo also sell essential items for your convenience, such as batteries and films.
