Rhino Calf Named

The first rhino calf to be born at Chester Zoo for 10 years was named in December. The young rhino was named Asani which means 'rebellious' in Swahili.

A special edition t-shirt to only be sold at Chester Zoo has been designed by Marc Ecko, a well known American artist, fashion designer and philanthropist.

Michelle Duma, of Chester Zoo’s Development Department, said: “Marc is a great supporter of the work that goes on at Chester with both our rhino species. Money raised from the sale of the t-shirt will go directly back into the zoo and help continue our good work with rhinos which is all the more evident with the arrival of Asani.”
